Former UTC student, Ben Gallard-Bridger, is working towards his master’s degree in Computer Science at Lincoln University.
Ben has now started the second year of his degree after completing his first year with first class grades. He said: “I don’t think I’d have done as well as I have in my first year of university if I hadn’t come to the UTC.”
In Sixth Form, Ben studied Maths, Computer Science, Physics and Single Engineering which he achieved a Distinction* in.
Ben decided to come to the UTC for his Post 16 studies due to his interest in computer science. He said: “I received a letter through the post and of course I was interested in computer science so I thought the UTC might be a better fit for me than my previous school.
“I came for an open day with a friend and we both fell in love with the place. Walking around it was such a different atmosphere to my school before.”
Ben commented on his time at the UTC: “When you walk around, it doesn’t feel like your average school, you feel more like you’re in the industry rather than a school. It feels more mature and you can be more independent – that maturity allowed me to be a bit more prepared for university as well.
“If you want to be here, you’ll do well. The teachers here are top class.”
