Sixteen-year old Summar Khurshid joined the UTC to pursue her interest in engineering.
Summar decided to move to the UTC in Year 10 after receiving a leaflet about the college. She said: “I was immediately interested when I saw the leaflet, so I came to an open evening and thought this would be the perfect environment for me to start my career in engineering.
“I was amazed by the level of technology they have here and all the machines.”
Commenting on her time at the UTC so far, Summar said: “It’s been really good. I’ve always enjoyed problem solving and finding solutions to different problems – which is what sparked my interest in engineering in the first place.
“Coming to the UTC has only confirmed that engineering is what I want to do!”
Following her GCSE results, Summar is progressing into the sixth form at UTC Leeds to study Engineering, Chemistry, Physics and Maths. She said, “I’m happy with my results because they mean that I can stay here and do my A Levels.”
