Physics enthusiast Rishikesh Namboodiri is looking forward to starting a degree at UCL in London after excelling at UTC Leeds.
Rishikesh is going to pursue his favourite subject, Physics, at UCL in London starting end of September after gaining straight A* grades in his A Levels, Physics, Computer Science and Further Maths.
Commenting on his next steps, he said: “I’m pretty excited. They have a really good Physics programme at UCL, and I want to go to London because it’s a really nice city.”
Rishikesh joined the UTC in Year 12 from Leeds City Academy after researching other schools in Leeds and York. At the time he wanted to study Engineering and joined the UTC for its specialist teaching and facilities, but soon decided he preferred Physics, Computer Science and Further Maths.
Looking back over his sixth form experience at the UTC, he feels it was a positive move:
“The best thing about the UTC is the teachers here. They actually enjoy their subject very much and they can teach it incredibly well. I have to say, the teachers really inspired me, especially my Physics and Computer Science teachers.
“They really know their subject and you can really feel it when you’re in their class. That’s what I strive for and that’s what I’ve learnt from the UTC.”
Rishikesh feels his biggest achievement is getting an A* in Further Maths. He said, “When I did the exam, I didn’t think I was going to get an A* so that was the biggest surprise.”
