Sixteen-year old Martins Golubevs secured two Double Distinctions amongst a clutch of good GCSE results.
Martins is continuing his studies at the UTC following his GCSE results. He said: “I’m going to stay at the UTC, mainly so I can continue to study engineering as that’s what I want to do in the future at university – mechanical engineering to be specific.”
“I’m going to study Maths, Physics and Engineering for my A Levels.”
Martins explains his decision to move to the UTC in Year 10 and his experience so far: “I decided to come here because it offered engineering and that’s what I’m interested in. I’ve enjoyed my time here, especially the engineering lessons and using the machines.
“I’m really proud of achieving two Double Distinctions in engineering.”
Asked what he would say to someone in Year 9 considering whether to join UTC Leeds in Year 10, Martins said, “If you have an interest in engineering then come to UTC Leeds, I don’t know any other school that offers it.”
