We have some ‘Good’ news… - UTC Leeds

28th February 2023

Our latest Ofsted report is now live! We are thrilled to share that we were rated ‘Outstanding’ in two areas and ‘Good’ overall following a visit at the beginning of January. This was our first Ofsted inspection since 2019 and shows the huge improvements made across the board.

Ofsted inspectors noted that, “Leaders and staff are united in their vision to develop the next generation of engineers, scientists and innovators.” They found our pupils to be “well supported by kind staff who are determined to help them to achieve highly.”

Our Sixth Form particularly impressed inspectors, who rated it as ‘Outstanding’. In their report, they said, “Pupils work closely with employers on different projects, closely linked with each subject area. The curriculum is brought to life as a result.” Inspectors also noted our pupils’ “tangible and emerging professionalism as they grow in confidence and self-belief.”

Behaviour and attendance were also said to be ‘Outstanding’, highlighting the dedication of our fantastic students. Inspectors said, “Pupils know they are genuinely cared about. They attend well because of the value in which they hold their education and their relationships with staff.”

Our Principal, Hannah Wilson, said, “We are absolutely delighted that the Ofsted inspection team recognised the ‘life changing’ opportunities we offer our community. We are always extremely proud of the exceptional destinations our young people achieve each year; they are phenomenal and again, we are delighted that Ofsted recognised this and that this is a result of our Outstanding Sixth Form provision. Ultimately, Ofsted recognised that UTC Leeds is driven by our dedicated team of staff, and their happiness creates a positive, reinforcing environment for young people to thrive.”
