This year’s British Science Week takes place 11–20 March in celebration of science, technology, engineering and mathematics.
Just like UTC Leeds, this week aims to promote the importance of STEM in today’s modern world, and to support young people pursuing an education and career in STEM.
British Science Week also works to bust myths surrounding STEM, celebrating its true diversity by encouraging STEM employers and researchers to share their stories. This is a great resource for young and prospective students, who can be shown that STEM studies and careers are for everyone.
To find out more about how British Science Week is changing public perception around STEM, check out their ‘Smashing Stereotypes’ campaign here – in partnership with science-based tech company 3M.
As well as showcasing diversity within STEM, British Science Week is running a wealth of events across the nation, with many great options available to younger and older science-enthusiasts alike.
There is also a poster competition and a variety of activity packs available to download on the British Science Week website, here. This year’s activity packs theme is ‘Growth’ – something that UTC Leeds can wholeheartedly support!
With a number of opportunities on offer to grow and learn new employability skills and to widen your STEM knowledge, we at UTC Leeds hope you’ll take the opportunity to be a part of British Science Week 2022.
