Year 11 students have once again done themselves and the UTC proud with fantastic GCSE results. 100% of our Year 11s have secured positive destinations for next year, and both staff and students have expressed how pleased they are with the results of their hard work.
Tim Smeaton, Head of KS4, said, “We are incredibly proud of Year 11’s results and the resilience they have shown throughout a turbulent two years. They have worked continuously hard throughout their time with us and have achieved a range of amazing results and destinations.”
“I’m really happy with my results and really proud of the work I’ve done,” said Hugo Burns-Danforth after receiving his GCSE results. “I saw the UTC as an opportunity with the facilities they offer and I took the leap.”
Many of our other Year 11s joined us after seeing the opportunities on offer for students with a love of STEM subjects. Aimee Wiltshire said, “It’s a really good place if you know that you want to do Engineering or anything STEM related because it gives you a head start and you get to know more about the subject than you would if you went anywhere else.”
We are delighted that many of our Year 11s are planning to continue their journey with us for another two years to study towards their Level 3 qualifications.
Jasmine Sewell, who also received her GCSE results this week, said, “I plan to stay here for Sixth Form and do Engineering, Maths and Computer Science. I want to stay here because it’s a really good college in terms of the equipment and technology. I really love the environment and the teachers.”
Another student, Tim Chen, echoed Jasmine’s feelings, saying, “I’m going to stay at UTC Leeds for Sixth Form because they offer great Engineering courses. Compared to other schools they just offer so much more.”
Mr Smeaton commented on the high number of Year 11 students continuing with us, saying, “We are really pleased that so many of Year 11 are returning to us for Sixth Form and we wish all our students the very best in their next steps. Well done to all of you!”
Whether they are continuing at UTC Leeds or starting a new journey elsewhere, all of our Year 11s are going on to fantastic destinations. We are incredibly proud of their hard work and wish them all the very best of luck!
