It was another fantastic A Level Results Day for students at UTC Leeds! Year 13 students are once again progressing to top university and employer destinations after achieving strong grades in their A Level and technical qualifications.
After another tough year of changing restrictions and uncertainty, students have expressed their relief at getting through and securing their first-choice destinations.
One leaver, Dana Gadd, said, “I’m very happy, very overwhelmed! After this year I can’t believe that it’s come out so well so I’m proud of myself.”
Dana will be attending Imperial College London in September to study Aeronautical Engineering. “I want to join the space industry so I can build rockets et cetera, maybe go to space – we’ll see!”
Dana isn’t the only one with high aspirations for her future. Umer Khan is applying his love for Chemistry to solve real-world problems. He said, “I’m over the moon that I’ve got the grades that I need to go to Leeds University and eventually become a successful Chemical Engineer to help many people around the world.”
As well as securing places at top universities, UTC Leeds students are going on to apprenticeships at exciting tech and engineering companies including Jaguar Land Rover, L & C Products Laser Printing and Schneider Electric.
Jake Hinchliffe will be starting a Building Services Degree Apprenticeship at Tetra Tech later this year. He was pleased with his results and excited for his next steps. “Really chuffed with my results, they’ve opened many doors. I don’t really know where I want to take it yet, but hopefully I’ll have a good career!”
As with each year since UTC Leeds opened, 100% of students are going on to exciting, positive destinations. After two years of hard work, they now have some time to relax before starting their new journeys.
Sunil Singh, who will be studying Product Design at the University of Leeds, said, “I’m feeling relieved to get the grades I needed to get into uni. All I’m going to do now is kick my feet up and relax!”
Principal of UTC Leeds, Hannah Wilson, said, “I am simply delighted by the hard work and dedication of our young people. In these most difficult times they have shown true resilience and their results are a testament to their unwavering determination. I am so proud that every single one of them has secured the fantastic destinations that they were seeking. Congratulations to the class of 2021!”
All staff at the UTC Leeds are extremely proud of what Year 13 students have achieved this year. Their hard work and dedication have paid off, helping them to achieve amazing results and allowing them to progress to the next steps in their career journeys.
We wish all our leavers the very best of luck in their futures!
