UTC Leeds has today opened its doors to exhibit its £11m facilities for students aged 14-19 who are interested in Engineering and STEM subjects. The new virtual tour facility showcases the state-of-the-art building to prospective students and parents, as well as the staff, curriculum and the unique opportunities that the UTC offers.
Principal Hannah Wilson says, “We want to give young people in Leeds and the surrounding areas every opportunity to see what is available to them at the UTC as we know we have an outstanding offer for those interested in Engineering and STEM subjects. This new virtual tour takes the UTC to wherever people are, removing the barriers that the pandemic has necessitated.”
Miss. Wilson continues, “This is all part of our strategy to go the extra mile to support both our existing students and our applicants. We have moved to 100% live online teaching and the student response has been fantastic. We have also been running A Level bridging sessions online to help Year 11 students prepare for next year and now, this week, we are running a week of taster activities for prospective Year 10 students – all of which have been open for new people to join. Our mission is to improve young people’s life chances and prepare them for future careers, so we have been working hard to not only ensure they do not fall behind at this time, but can actually progress their learning.”
