An evening of celebration with our 2019 graduates and employer partners - UTC Leeds

27th January 2020

Our Class of 2019 Year 11 students were the centre of attention recently at a fantastic awards evening to celebrate their achievements. We were delighted to welcome back those students who had progressed from the UTC following their GCSEs, whether to start an apprenticeship or to further their education, including those who have continued their studies at UTC Leeds.

The awards ceremony, which took place on Thursday 16th January, was an opportunity to congratulate each and every one of our students for all their hard work last year. Their exam results placed UTC Leeds as one of the top three UTCs in the country!

During the awards ceremony, each student was invited to collect their certificate of achievement. Following this, we presented specific awards to the students who had excelled in particular subjects.

Congratulations went to Patrick Adomah (Computer Science), Leo Foltier (Maths), Katelyn Longfellow (English and Engineering), Liam Bentley (Product Design), Tristan Thompson (Science) and Umar Mirza (Geography). Special congratulations went to Dana Gadd, who won the Star Award for her work ethic, motivation and her exception skills as an engineer – as well as her outstanding GCSE results, which meant that she achieved the highest grades across all her subjects.

Each award was sponsored by one of our employer partners, who play a vital part in preparing our students for the world of work. Our thanks go to all our empoyer partners who supported the awards evening; Siemens, Sound Leisure, Leeds Welding Company Ltd, William Cook Ltd, MPM Bradford Ltd, ACS Stainless Steel Fixings Ltd, Daletech Electronics and the University of Leeds.

Principal, Hannah Wilson, said, “Our UTC graduates here tonight exemplify what we are all about – helping to develop young people with a strong ambition to succeed and advanced skills for the modern work place. We are very proud of their achievements and grateful for the support of our employer partners who play a crucial role in working with the UTC to give our students the professional, personal and technical skills they need to succeed.”
