Many of the Y10 students completed their work experience placements this week across a range of local and national companies.
The feedback from employers has been fantastic, including some examples below, which Mr Brown gained from his work experience visits to some of the students on placement:
Electrical Services LTD where Caison Davey was on placement: “The work that we have done in CAD and 5S’s in engineering has really helped with the tasks that I’ve has been doing this week” Caison commented. Some feedback on Caison from his employer was “Caison has been using AutoCAD to make site drawings and helping to organise all the Health and Safety documentation including listing what document covers what and where it can be found”. An offer of work through the summer has been made to him”.
Lambert Engineering, Tadcaster where Alex Tiffin was on placement: His employers commented “we were really surprised how work ready he was in contrast to the students that we get from Tadcaster Grammar School ( Annabel Watson HR at Lambert Engineering). Annabel also added “We will look forward to seeing more of your students in future”
Rocol – Swillington, Leeds where Jamie Wedlinscky was on placement: – The receptionist said “he’s come in everyday with a smile on his face his is obviously enjoying it”. Another member of staff said “We just give him a task and we know he will do it correctly. He has been great this week” Jamie was working in the IT department taking computers to pieces and removing hard-drives, helping them with their security systems and their servers.
Austhorpe Signs Leeds where Kyle Harbourne was on placement: – “He has done on excellent job he has a great work ethic and has taught some of our other staff how the place should be kept. That and the fact that during his lunch-break he put together some Ikea units just because they were there!” Richard Whitehouse MD
Steriliser Consultancy Services – Sherburn in Elmet where Sophie Holloway was on placement: – “Sophie has been excellent while she has been here, she is very professional in how she has gone about her duties, We even took her out to some of the sites to see where our units are used” Barry Holmes, Company Director
