Course Overview

The T Level in Digital Support and Security is a two-year technical qualification for students aged 16–19 who want to pursue a career in IT support, digital infrastructure, or cybersecurity. Designed in collaboration with employers, this course is equivalent to 3 A Levels and includes a minimum of 45 days industry placement, allowing students to gain valuable hands-on experience.

You’ll develop core digital knowledge and specialise in maintaining secure, reliable IT systems—preparing you for a future in one of the fastest-growing sectors in the UK economy.


Who Is This Course For?

This course is ideal for students who are interested in pursuing careers in:

Entry Requirements

  • 5 GCSEs at Grade 4 or above, including English and Maths

  • A strong interest in computers, networks, IT systems, and cyber security

Year 12 – Core Knowledge & Technical Skills

In your first year, you’ll study key topics that build a strong foundation in digital technologies:

  • Data Analysis and Interpretation

  • Cybersecurity Principles and Threat Management

  • Technical Fault-Finding and Problem Solving

  • Communicating with Stakeholders

  • Testing and Evaluating Digital Solutions

Year 13 – Occupational Specialism: Digital Support & Security

In your second year, you'll specialise in Digital Support and Security, focusing on:

  • Implementing and Managing Digital Security Controls

  • Deploying and Supporting Physical and Cloud-Based Infrastructure

  • Diagnosing and Resolving Technical Faults

  • Monitoring System Performance and Ensuring Network Security

  • Providing Support to End Users

  • Managing Secure IT Systems and Data


Industry Placement - A key part of this T Level is the industry placement, where you’ll spend at least 45 days working with a real employer in a relevant role. This provides practical experience and helps you apply your learning in a workplace environment.
